Chris Standring Live In London

If you have some availability on March 5th, 2017, you might want to consider taking a jaunt to London. Chris Standring Live In London recording a live session performance.  He will have a special guest vocalist, and it is one of my favorite performers.  English singer Mica Paris.  I remember her debut album, So Good.  It has several nice cuts on there.  My One Temptation, Like Dreamer’s Do, Don’t give Me Up and the remakes So Good and Where is the Love with Will Downing.  The album was released in 1988, and since then, Mica has released six other albums.

Such a unique voice.

Of course we dig Chris because his music is based in the Funk.  His latest album, Ten is doing really well, and since he has been releasing music since 1996, he will have a lot of material to choose from when he hits the stage at Cadogan Hall in London.

An interesting aspect of the show is that the audience members will be able to experience the recording session live with Sennheiser headphones.  I really like that idea.

Hot Jazz Tracks Week of December 4

Paul Hardcastle grabs the top spot this week with Echoes Rising.  This is off The History of Paul Hardcastle, a nice compilation of Paul’s greatest hits.  It is a four disc set.  It also features a nice long chill-out mix, kind of like what we do here with the smoothed out mixes.

I am sure you were introduced to Mr. Hardcastle in 1984, when Rainforest was released.  The song 19 came out in 1985.  Those were two monster hits right out of the gate.

Fun fact:  Rainforest sampled the song Planet Rock by Afrika Bambaataa and Soulsonic Force.

Do I Do, the Peter White interpretation of the Stevie Wonder classic, comes in at number eight this week.

Warren Hill’s Cancun Jazz Festival

Do you have plans for Labor Day Weekend 2017?  What?? You have not thought that for ahead?  Here is an idea.  Warren Hill’s Cancun Jazz Festival will be happening August 31st-September 3rd.  Riviera Maya, Mexico will be the scene.  All eyes will be on the Hard Rock Hotel for this All Star jam session.

Hot Jazz Tracks Week of November 27

This week it is Paul Brown with Put It Where You Want It at number one.  This is the first single off of the new album One Way Back.  This album has a bluesy vibe to it, so give it a listen and enjoy.  Nathan East enters the top ten with Lifecycle.  I am predicting this will be a big hit.  The rest of the top ten stays strong with Paul Hardcastle, Lindsey Webster, Richard Elliot and Chuck Loeb inching up the charts.

Old School On New Year’s Eve

 

If you are heading out on New Year’s Eve, there will be many options out there.  Of course there are too many to name.  The major cities will have the most options, so all you have to do is decide what type of evening you want.  Do you want a quiet dinner?  How about a bangin’ nightclub?  Maybe even a concert?  If the concert is something you want, we will list some options for you right here.

The Isley Brothers Concert Tickets

If you want to start off the new year correct, then you must see The Isley Brothers.  They will have a few shows in January 2017.  One thing though…..You either have to be in New York, Rhode Island, or Primm, Nevada.  Primm is about 35 miles south of Las Vegas.  They have a nice venue for concerts, just in case you were wondering.

This is a group that has crossed generations with their songs.  So many hits.  It is hard for me to choose just one……Actually I can.  As far as I am concerned, Between The Sheets is one of the top five slow jams of all time.

You do not have to agree, but you have to admit the song is too fly!!

When I write these blogs, I usually play a few songs from the artist….to get in the mood.  Right now Caravan of Love is playing.

That is actually from Isley Jasper Isley – The younger members of the Isley clan.  Fun fact:  Chris Jasper (whose sister was married to Rudolph Isley) was a major contributor of the Isley Brothers sound in the 70’s and 80’s.
